Embrace Your Evil Side

 Hello, Gamers,

It is time for the weekly update from Micro RPG. This week's theme is EVIL. Many gamers enjoy indulging in playing evil characters in games. Well, now that option is available in Micro Chapbook RPG. This week I'm thrilled to bring you the official 2nd deluxe core rulebook for the systems dark fantasy setting. Micro Chapbook RPG EVIL EDITION is sure to fulfill all your wicked wishes. Additionally, to give you a taste of darkness, I'm also including a FREE evil 2-page adventure scenario.

EMBRACE EVIL!

Brutal, dark, and unforgiving, a villain’s life is never an easy one.

The Micro Chapbook RPG system is an ultra-simple roleplaying game that can be played solo or with a traditional GM if you so wish. The EVIL EDITION is the second Deluxe Core Rulebook for the dark fantasy version of the system. The main game focuses on solitaire gameplay, starring a single power-hungry villain. It uses randomly generated dungeon scenarios to make each game session a little different. The universe for this game is brutal, unforgiving, and dark. It takes notes from such classics as Dungeon Quest and Deathtrap Dungeon. Expect to die and die often.

What is the difference between this book and the previous Deluxe Core Rulebook? This book focuses on playing evil and villainous characters. These characters will tend to be more powerful than your normal goodhearted hero. However, being evil has its drawbacks. Personal corruption can make you rot inside and out, not to mention make you an outcast of society. This core rulebook features all-new EVIL classes and races. This includes Death Knights, Warlocks, Orcs, Goblins, Dire Elves, Demons, and more. These characters have special dark powers to ensure their evil reign goes on and on. Of course, there is nothing saying that any other race from other gamebooks in the system cannot also be evil. OR that the races included here might work for a normal heroic character. This book also includes new rules for Corruption, Theft, Being Arrested, Escaping Jail, Intimidation, and much more.

Get your copy for only $2.99 on DriveThru RPG! Look for the print edition in the coming week.

Something Evil Walks the Halls at Night

 Hello Gamers,

It's time for the weekly update from Micro RPG! This week I'm bringing you a new spooky adventure for Micro Chapbook RPG, as well as the announcement of a new physical edition of a Halloween favorite.

Something Evil Walks the Halls at Night

Something walks the halls of Briar Academy at night. The students all believe the school is haunted. The sounds of footsteps, clanking chains, and the cry of a girl can be heard in the darkness. The Headmistress is at her wits end trying to solve the mystery. However, when one of the girls from the school vanishes in the night, they all begin to fear there is something far more sinister at work.

Horror at Briar Academy is the newest stand-alone short adventure module for the Micro Chapbook Roleplaying game system set in the seaside city of Trabor Bay in the region of Hellick Water. (Check out the map and locations of Hellick Water in the Micro Chapbook RPG Board Game).

This adventure can be played on its own or as part of the larger campaign game in conjunction with other Micro Chapbook products. This book includes the basics of the rules AND can be combined with any Micro Chapbook RPG system book or genre.

Get it for only 99 cents and look for a print edition coming to amazon.

Return to Sleepy Hollow

One last year's absolute favorite games of the Halloween season was the print and play board game Sleepy Hollow: Hunt for the Headless Horseman. This solo game sees the player take on the role of Ichabod Crane. Well, I'm happy to announce that a physical edition is now available for $29.99 from the Game CrafterYou can still download the print and play version for FREE on drivethru

Mild-mannered school teacher Ichabod Crane loves ghost stories and occult tales. So much so that he reads them to his classroom each morning during the witching autumn months. Upon receiving a mysterious package one day, Ichabod finds a book inside. Its pages contain frightening yarns about Horseman Hollow just outside of town, and he can’t resist the urge to read it out loud to his students. Unfortunately for Ichabod, this is no mere book and the words--read aloud--awaken the devilish specter known as The Headless Horseman from his slumber. Now, every night of October, the Horseman rides from the hollow and into town, terrorizing the residents. Unhappy with this stupid mistake, but also unwilling to face the problem themselves, the town council assigns Ichabod the duty of tracking down the Horseman’s secret lair and putting a stop to the horrors once and for all. However, Ichabod isn’t as foolish as he appears. He knows that one of the council members is the person who unearthed the book and sent it to Ichabod. Someone is working with the Horseman to bring doom on Sleepy Hollow.

Sleepy Hollow: The Hunt for the Headless Horseman is a game of mystery and horror set in 1700s New England. It uses a “point-to-point” map system as its primary form of gameplay. You also have a list of 6 statistics that measure your abilities and equipment as Ichabod Crane. The map and player sheet include useful tables for tracking damage, weather, terror levels, and more. The game can be played as a board game or as a roll+write. Before playing the first time, print off the Map, Player Sheet, and Tokens (unless playing roll+write style) and mount them on cardboard or cardstock.

Killer Sharks and Space Ghosts, Oh My!

 Hello Gamers,

Happy Wednesday! It is time once again for the weekly update from Micro RPG. This may be the last couple of game releases for the next week or two as I'm taking a quick breather from work to focus on a few home and family things. Once I'm done with that break, I'm jumping into mostly horror game designs, or at least autumnal ones, to prepare for the coming Halloween season. I know for many of us, myself included, Halloween is a favorite. However, it won't be the same this year with all of us still social distancing from one another. So, I'm determined to bring you some fun spooky games for both families and gamers alike to enjoy this coming season. In the meantime, I have two fun new game announcements for you right now!

A Ghost Ship!

I'm happy to announce the first stand-alone adventure module for the Micro Chapbook Sci-Fi RPG and the third adventure module for the system as a whole. I know many of you have been asking, when will we get more Sci-Fi content? Well, here it is! A spooky ghost ship adventure to sink your teeth into. You can play it with JUST this book alone, in conjunction with the deluxe sci-fi book, or with any of the other deluxe core books! Bring a cowboy, vampire hunter, elf, dwarf, or whatever else you want into space!

Curse of the Flying Dutchman is a stand-alone short adventure module for the Micro Chapbook Sci-Fi RPG. This adventure can be played on its own or as part of any current adventure or campaign. This book includes the rules basics, which may have some differences from the full rules in the core rulebook. The adventure contained herein takes the player and an away team to the outer reaches of space where an old ghost ship, thought long dead, has shown up.

It also includes some new "space ship" rules to add onto the game.

Get it now for only 99 cents. Also look for it in print on Amazon soon.

Atomic Sharks!?

This week I'm happy to bring you another FREE print and play board game. This is a fun one that combines cold war submarines with killer sharks! It the first game in a possible line of board games about naval hunting.

Dear operative,

We’ve just received intel from one of our best men in the CIA that the Russians are now implementing a new weapons project titled Project Tooth. According to our information, this new project utilizes sea life in its execution--specifically a genetically enhanced great white shark. We believe multiple disappearances of American fishing boats is related to this new project. We need you to join one of our submarine crews and hunt this creature down and kill it before it can do more harm . . . or the Russians can build a better one.

Atom Age Shark is a Sci-Fi themed alternate history game set during the cold war where the Russians are using a great white shark as part of the war effort.

It is up to you, the player, to track down the shark and kill it. This will be no easy task as this superpowered shark can rip a sub to shreds if given the chance.

Get it for FREE or a small donation now DriveThru or Wargame Vault.

Well, friends. That is all for the next week or so. I look forward to reporting back to you in the coming couple of months with some spooky fun and horrific games of the season. Some possible products include a gothic fantasy campaign book, a new sourcebook for Hammer+Cross, new print and play and PHYSICAL board games, and a WHOLE NEW core rule book in a new frightening theme for Micro Chapbook RPG. I guess we will see what I have time to get done and into your hands before the pumpkin drops.

Stay safe and healthy!

Bring the Miniatures

Hello Gamers,
It is time again for the Micro RPG weekly update. This week we have one new game for you and a new edition of a popular print and play.

Bring the Miniatures!

Ever since I released the very first Micro Chapbook scenario, people have inquired about being able to play the game with miniatures. Well, I finally have the solution for you!
Still completely soloable, Micro Chapbook TACTICS is a set of add-on rules to make your game more immersive. IT provides guidelines on how to transfer your game from the graph paper to the play mat with miniatures. Move your hero and their companions around the dungeon. Get the tactical advantage on the monsters. Slay the day!
From the description:
Micro Chapbook Tactics is a set of add-on rules for the Micro Chapbook RPG system. While the basic system is designed for simplicity, quickness of play, and ease of entry, some players might desire more from their solo RPG.
These tactical rules enhance the combat experience already present in the game by introducing a map-based tactical system that utilizes miniatures. Much of combat works the same as before, but now with the addition of movement and character placement.
This book will touch on the concepts of tactical miniatures combat and how to best integrate it into your game! This includes concepts for movement, ranged combat, line of sight, facing multiple enemies, etc.
Finally, the end of the book contains a new stand-alone game mode called Kolobard's Arena.
Pick up this new book for only $1.99 on DriveThru. Print soon to come to Amazon.

Take to the High Seas!

An updated version of Blood & Gold: Naval Warfare in the Age of Piracy, is now available to download! This new version includes rules clarifications as well as a few new rules to add some more excitement and tension to the game. New rules include:
  • Sea Attrition: If you are out at sea too long, your crew might starve!
  • Sea Rats: Most pirates are Sea Rats. They long to be on the ocean. Being on land too long makes them uneasy. Thus, the longer they remain on land, the more difficult it might become for them!
Additionally, a new JPG of the map will come with the download, allowing you to print a larger version of the board along with an extra PDF giving tips for printing the game and building it.
All of this comes in conjunction with the new PHYSICAL EDITION of the board game! That's right! You can get a physical boxed edition of the game now from The Game Crafter for $24.99.
If you haven't tried the game yet, give it a spin for FREE (or for a small donation) with the print and play version. Get it on Drive Thru today! And those of you who already own it automatically can head to the site and download the new version!
This SOLO GAME is perfect for anyone stuck at home who doesn't have people to play games with in their household.

Hope in Things to Come

Well, that is all the new announcements for this week, but as we head into next week, I think there is something exciting coming your way. Something that many of you have inquired about.
With this pandemic still running will all over the world, so many of us remain stuck at home. For some of us even, like myself, someone in our home might have the virus thus distancing us more and more from that social connection. We might even be confined to one room and feeling trapped.
But there is always hope!
Next week I have a new project coming that is extremely meaningful to me in this time of isolation--something that will hopefully help you get your social gaming fix if you need it. AND IT WILL BE FREE.
Happy Wednesday to you all and stay healthy and sane out there!
Thanks!

The main game focuses on solitaire gameplay, starring a single tribe warrior. Your Tribe has recently discovered a new island--the one that is renowned to be the location of Dino Valley. You are dropped off alone on the shores to explore and map out the island.

The game uses randomly generated game scenarios to make each session a little different. A scenario can be anything from an underground cave to a lush jungle.

This book also includes background on a whole new lush world for the Micro Chapbook RPG System. You may use any character from any other system core rulebook (even including cowboys, vampire hunters, and more), but this universe is focused on a fantastical prehistoric setting of cavemen and barbarians.

Step into a lost world of many dangers. Explore deep jungles. Delve into caves and temples. Escape hungry dinosaurs. Forage for food, resources, and tools. Even take a dino as a pet.

Additionally, this game provides an open world for exploration. You will be able to craft new items from resources found.

Go Camping This 4th of July

Happy Wednesday, Gamers,

It is time once again for the weekly update from Micro RPG. This week's games include a new adventure for Micro Chapbook RPG and something special (and a bit weird) in honor of the 4th of July here in America.

Go Camping This 4th of July

Nothing quite says summer like a good old camping trip. Many of us love camping and hiking. I know I do. Nothing helps my creativity and motivation like being out in nature. However, any good camping trip can be ruined by a sword-wielding maniac.

Today I am happy to announce the first Deluxe Adventure Module for Micro Chapbook RPG. It is a summer themed adventure for one player that takes heavy inspirations from some of my favorite horror flicks. Before becoming a full time game designer, I was actually a publicist and journalist for the horror community. I have a great love for all things horror, especially "theme" horror movies like summer camp.

Midnight on Black Lake makes nods to many of these films I've so loved.

The small and remote town of Black Peak is in an uproar over a recent string of disappearances. Recently, a group of the town’s youth headed up the mountain towards an area called Black Lake on a dare. Unfortunately, the group never returned. Having recently arrived in town yourself, the town Lord and other town members are desperate to get your help to find out what happened to the missing youths, and to discover the dark secret of Black Lake.

This new Deluxe Book only costs 99 cents! I really loved working on this one, so expect more adventures in the future.

Take to the Roads . . . During the American Revolution?

I often love weird and strange themes in games. This new game is no different.

This week's FREEBIE is Road Patriots, an alternate history, steampunk skirmish wargame set during the American Revolution.

Players will build steam cars to battle on the field alongside militia and military in this miniatures game!

Mount a cannon on your car, or simply fire muskets from the cab. It's up to you.

This game is FREE to download in honor of the 4th (or you can make a small donation to support more free games).

That's all for this week. I will be spending the rest of the month relaxing at home with some historical American Rev wargames and celebrating the 4th with friends and family. So, no new games next week. Please enjoy the many FREE ones I already have up online. Stay happy. Stay safe. Game on.

Don't Be BOARD at Home . . . Make it an Adventure!

Hello Friends and Gamers,

It is time once again for the Micro RPG weekly update! Summer is upon us and for some reason that puts me in the mood for games! I had many a happy summer day spent in the cool air-conditioned living room of my childhood home or on vacation visiting grandma's house crowded around a board game with my two brothers. We played anything we could get our hands on from Chess, to Checkers, to Monopoly, to Clue, and even the old 1993 Jurassic Park Game. Nothing quite says "summer time" to me like a board game.

That's why, this week, I'm thrilled to bring you a fully fledged print and play board game!

Don't Be BOARD at Home . . . Make it an Adventure!

I am happy to announce a large project I've been working on. The Micro Chapbook RPG Board Game! Taking the basics of the system you all know and love and distilling it into a board game, I've created a compact adventure for 1-4 players. Travel an open world map. Explore the wilderness. Visit towns. Delve into dungeons. But it's more than that. It is also a fully compatible game supplement if you want to combine your other Micro Chapbook RPG products with it! You can also expect new gamebooks, campaigns, and adventures set in the region depicted here on the game map! Pick up this print and play version today for only $2.99. A fully printed retail version with game pieces will also be available for order down the road--depending on the interest and success of this version.

Included in the print and play version is:

  • A two-section square board game. The World Map and the Dungeon Map.
  • A Deck of Character Portraits.
  • A Deck of Quest Cards.
  • A Deck of Location Cards.
  • A Deck of Spell Cards.
  • Damage Cards
  • Character Sheets
  • Game Instructions
  • Build Tips
The physical version, if printed, will also include 8 quest markers, dice, and character portrait standees. If you want to see an official version in print, make sure to drop me a line on the Micro RPG Facebook page or the Micro RPG Players group page.

Weekly Freebie!

Now, it wouldn't be a weekly update without a new FREE game! My current goal is to have one inexpensive paid game and one free game (at least) every week. It matters to me that those who love the gaming hobby, but may not have disposable means for said hobby, have access to cheap and free products! I find it is especially important right now when many of us have less money coming in but are looking for breaks from the craziness around us. Sometimes, sitting down to a simple game can be the best relaxation and therapy a body needs!

This week I'm bringing you the 3rd entry in the Micro Chapbook Wargame series. This time, I bring you Crusader Vs. Skeleton!

A necromancer has raised a great Skeleton Army. The righteous army of the crusaders are determined to thwart this unholy evil. Who will win?

Crusader Vs Skeleton is a Micro Chapbook Wargame--an ultra-light miniatures skirmish game that fits in a single folded chapbook. Simply print off the two rules pages back-to-back, fold in half, and you have a completely playable Micro Chapbook Wargame.

These rules are specially designed for solo play but may also be used as quick and simple rules for a one on one miniatures game. Combine with other Micro Chapbook Wargames for extra options!

This file includes both the full-color and printer-friendly versions.

Pick this up for FREE (or for a small donation) on DriveThru and Wargame Vault!

Upcoming Hints

It is summertime, so expect some coooool summer games to be heading your way. Some things you might see in the works include.

  • A Dinosaur Themed Roll and Write
  • A Shark Themed Roll and Write
  • A Summer Camp Themed Game
  • A 4th of July Themed Adventure Module
  • A Medival Low-Magic Game
  • The Previously Announced Super Hero Micro Chapbook RPG
  • And MORE!

That's all for this week, friends! Keep cool! Stay safe. Be kind to one another! Have fun!

To The Stars . . . and Beyond

Hello, Friends,

It is time for the weekly update from Micro RPG! This week I'm sending the update a few days early as I will be taking an extended weekend to "recharge the batteries" so to say. Also, I couldn't wait to let all of you know about the new Deluxe Core Rulebook that just dropped on DriveThru!

To The Stars and Beyond

So many of you have asked for it. In my recent survey, the #1 genre people wanted to see more of (after fantasy, of course) was science fiction. So, I am happy to announce that the Micro Chapbook SciFi RPG now has its own official deluxe core rulebook! You can download it now for only $1.99! The book includes all the rules and then some. Most exciting of all, it has a "Mission Generator" which allows for mixed up scenarios whenever you play.

WEEKLY FREEBIE!

If you are a bit strapped for cash at the moment, no worries. You can get the new stand alone Scifi scenario chapbook for FREE (or a small donation). A crew of Space Pirates have abducted a peaceful convoy ship transporting politicians. Can you board the ship and kill the Pirate King before it is too late?

The stats for the Space Pirates is also in the core rulebook!

COMING SOON

Also coming down the project line are two more deluxe books. The first is a Campaign book for the Micro Chapbook RPG core fantasy system. The other is another deluxe core rulebook in a new genre! Keep your ear to the rail for these books in the coming month or two. Also look for new freebies each week!

Have a happy rest of your week

At the request of a few gamers, I've gone ahead and made the pocket edition of Micro Chapbook RPG Core Rulebook available in a PDF format in addition to the print format. It contains most of the same content as the Deluxe rulebook, minus a few elements. You can print out the pages 4 to a sheet and then cut them out and bind them to create your own miniaturized version of the book. It only costs 99 cents. You can also get a printed copy on Amazon for $4.99.

Micro Chapbook RPG Pocket Edition Rulebook

A Last Thought

Finally, I wanted to take a quick moment to respond to many of you who filled out my survey this past week. First and foremost, thank you for your time and opinions. It was awesome to see such a large response from the community. Second, many of you had many good ideas. I wanted to let you know that many of these games were/are already in the works. One person asked about being able to play a vampire or werewolf in some of the games. Rest assured, that idea is being played with. Another player liked the idea of a paleolithic setting. That is also being worked on! In fact, I have an old board game titled Neanderthal: Danger of the Wilds I made a couple of years back but never published that should be coming to print and play format in the next month or so. Another person wondered about an RPG that didn't rely on violence. Yes, in fact, I even have a Micro RPG gamebook that is about a different concept or topic than fighting enemies that I think many will enjoy. The vast majority of people said they loved the fantasy and sword and sorcery stuff the most, so that will get the main focus of my attention--but that doesn't mean other genres will go untouched. This is a one-man show. I work full time at this, but even then I can only put out new books so quickly. Thank you all for the support and you expect new gamebooks every week! I'll be announcing the winner of the free upcoming deluxe gamebook soon as well!

Thanks,

Noah

MICRO CHAPBOOK RPG DELUXE SCENARIO COLLECTION 1!

Today, I am thrilled to announce the release of the first Deluxe Scenario Collection for the Micro Chapbook RPG system. This book collects the first 5 scenarios into one complete package--but it is more than just a reprint of those scenarios. Each one has a few new editions to make them exciting including:

  • Backstory: A bit of background story to help get you into the experience.

  • Village Shop: A list of the weapons, armor, and items available in town.

It also includes the basic rules of the game as featured in the stand-alone scenarios! That means you don't need any other book than this to play! Get it now for only $1.99! NEW One Page Dungeon: Frostmire: Holiday in Chillson Wood

Hello once again, gamers. It is time for another game release! Just in time for the holiday break from work, here is the next entry in the One Page Dungeon Frostmire roleplaying game series! This time, we take a break from subterranean locations to explore the woods!

This release will be my last game for 2019, as I take a break to enjoy the holidays with my wife and my family. However, knowing myself, I will not be able to resist working on new games occasionally through the break. (Any ideas or desires for the new year? Shoot me a message via Facebook).

All I can say is I've been blown away by the support from all of you this year. I never anticipated the popularity that the One Page System and many of my other games would garner. It has inspired me to be more daring and take more risks with this system and other games in general (Keep an eye out for some truly exciting stuff to come next year) So, without further ado, here is the description for One Page Dungeon Frostmire Volume II.

Welcome to One Page Dungeon: Frostmire, a simple and easy role-playing-game for the solo player. You only need some printer paper, dice, and a pencil to play, making it perfect for a plane ride, hotel room, or anywhere else. The game works with a procedurally generated dungeon, adding some randomness to the game. The second volume of the FrostMire season takes place during the Yuleton Celebration in Trillit, when the festivities are interrupted by packs of hungry wolves from the woods.

NEW GAME: One Page Apocalypse: Christmas Fallout

Hello again, gamers, and Happy Holidays. Nothing quite says winter solstice like a nuclear winter. At least, that is the case in the newest game in the One Page series!

One Page Apocalypse is a game I started working on around the same time as One Page Dungeon. However, I knew I wanted it to have a little bit more depth and complexity than One Page Dungeon, due to the fact that zombies, vampires, urban settings, and apocalypse fiction are all in my top favorite genres. I love fantasy, but it doesn't hold a candle to how much I adore urban/modern horror. (I blame books, tv, and movies from the late 90s and early 2000s).

In any case, I am thrilled to finally bring you the first of hopefully many entries in the Apocalypse version of this system. And hopefully the beginnings of a lot more in-depth games like I've never done before.

Some of the new things in this book include:

  • Rules for creating your own "home base" as either part of a survivor's compound or as a lone wolf.
  • Rules for infection and cold. Try to stave off illness and death as long as possible.
  • Rules for Mutations! How will the radiation of nuclear winter change you?
  • And FINALLY a short list of rules for converting the system to multiplayer.

Welcome to One Page Apocalypse, a simple and easy role-playing-game for the solo player. You only need some printer paper, dice, and a pencil to play, making it perfect for a plane ride, hotel room, or anywhere else. The game works with a procedurally generated game map, adding some randomness to the game.

This first volume marks the opening to Season 1 of the game--set in chilling nuclear winter where radiation turns any dead bodies into zombies. This season builds on the absolute basics of the One Page System (used in One Page Dungeon and One Page Cthulhu) and updates it for a modern horror setting.

Each volume will build upon the last, offering new snowy and frozen buildings and locations to explore in each entry--along with new horrors, mutations, and class options as well. Each entry stands alone, so no need to worry about playing them in order!
So, get ready to survive the apocalypse!

You can buy the first entry NOW for only 50 cents on DriveThru RPG. OR you can wait for the paperback copy coming soon!

NEW GAME: Charge Stations!

Hello, gamers. I recently asked what some of you would like to see coming out from MicroRPG. A few asked for a sci-fi roll+write. So, here it is! Charge Stations!

"Commander’s Log - Solardate 11.12.30
Due to an unforeseen systems malfunction, while passing through an anomaly, our warp drive has lost all power. Additionally, it has managed to power down all of our weapons systems onboard the U.S.S. Frontiersman. Usually, such a malfunction would be little more than a minor setback. It may even prove a useful piece of scientific and engineering research as the crew works on solving the problem and figuring out why the anomaly effects out ship in the first place.

However, things seem a bit more dire for us at the moment. The anomaly was right on the outer reaches of Kornathian space and we’ve been set adrift near one of their war parties. They have no desire to stop and discuss the situation or work out terms of peaceful negotiation. Instead, they have opened fire upon us.

I, as the commanding officer of this ship, can not simply let this be. I have men and women aboard I need to protect. As such, we will continue to work on fixing the warp drive and powering up our weapons, all the while we will fight off these unwanted attacks. It seems our choices are either to get the warp drive back up and running, so we can light jump out of here, or defeat the capital ship that is leading the war party against us."

Charge Stations! is a science fiction roll+write game where a single player takes command of the U.S.S. Frontiersman. It is up to the player to repair the ship all while fighting off incoming attacks. This is done by rolling handfuls of six-sided dice (D6s) which represent the ship’s crew members and assigning them to various tasks around the ship. All you need to play is a pencil, some dice, and this book.

This Unthankful Land: Thanksgiving Special 2019

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow gamers in the United States! Today I'm happy to announce this year's Thanksgiving special. It is called This Unthankful Land and it is the latest entry in the Point Chills system fo board games (a follow up to Sleepy Hollow, Hunt for the Headless Horseman).

You are a western settler in the mid to late 1800s. You moved yourself and your family out to this unknown place with the promise of a free parcel of land from the government. You had high dreams of working the dirt with your own two hands, planting seed, and watching as the crops shot up like giants toward the sky. You envisioned a landscape of cattle, animals well fed and fat for the market. You relished the thought of taking your animals, your crops, and selling them for a pretty penny at the end of the season. You imagined sitting around the table with your family, your wife and six children, and celebrating the bounties of your harvest over a large Thanksgiving feast!

Unfortunately, none of that has happened. A vicious late summer storm destroyed your crops with hail. A plague of bugs swooped in afterward to eat what little might have been salvageable. The cattle all contracted some sort of illness, withering their bodies away to nothingness before your very eyes. Worst of all is the Turkey, the huge bird you’d been fattening up for the Thanksgiving holiday. That turkey went berserk, overcome with some sort of illness of the mind. It attacked the weakened cattle, eating the flesh off their bodies. It even attacked your youngest son before rushing off into the wild.

Now with winter coming, you not only face complete isolation and starvation, but you also fear what lurks in the woods and mountains surrounding your farm. Could it be that the turkey is still waiting out there? Watching you at every turn? Perhaps he wants to feast on you this Thanksgiving.

In any case, there seems to be a curse over this unthankful land.

This Unthankful Land is a solo print and play RPG board game of Horror Survival in the American West. You can pick it up now on DriveThru RPG. OR keep an eye out for the print paperback version of the game coming soon.
