Killer Sharks and Space Ghosts, Oh My!

 Hello Gamers,

Happy Wednesday! It is time once again for the weekly update from Micro RPG. This may be the last couple of game releases for the next week or two as I'm taking a quick breather from work to focus on a few home and family things. Once I'm done with that break, I'm jumping into mostly horror game designs, or at least autumnal ones, to prepare for the coming Halloween season. I know for many of us, myself included, Halloween is a favorite. However, it won't be the same this year with all of us still social distancing from one another. So, I'm determined to bring you some fun spooky games for both families and gamers alike to enjoy this coming season. In the meantime, I have two fun new game announcements for you right now!

A Ghost Ship!

I'm happy to announce the first stand-alone adventure module for the Micro Chapbook Sci-Fi RPG and the third adventure module for the system as a whole. I know many of you have been asking, when will we get more Sci-Fi content? Well, here it is! A spooky ghost ship adventure to sink your teeth into. You can play it with JUST this book alone, in conjunction with the deluxe sci-fi book, or with any of the other deluxe core books! Bring a cowboy, vampire hunter, elf, dwarf, or whatever else you want into space!

Curse of the Flying Dutchman is a stand-alone short adventure module for the Micro Chapbook Sci-Fi RPG. This adventure can be played on its own or as part of any current adventure or campaign. This book includes the rules basics, which may have some differences from the full rules in the core rulebook. The adventure contained herein takes the player and an away team to the outer reaches of space where an old ghost ship, thought long dead, has shown up.

It also includes some new "space ship" rules to add onto the game.

Get it now for only 99 cents. Also look for it in print on Amazon soon.

Atomic Sharks!?

This week I'm happy to bring you another FREE print and play board game. This is a fun one that combines cold war submarines with killer sharks! It the first game in a possible line of board games about naval hunting.

Dear operative,

We’ve just received intel from one of our best men in the CIA that the Russians are now implementing a new weapons project titled Project Tooth. According to our information, this new project utilizes sea life in its execution--specifically a genetically enhanced great white shark. We believe multiple disappearances of American fishing boats is related to this new project. We need you to join one of our submarine crews and hunt this creature down and kill it before it can do more harm . . . or the Russians can build a better one.

Atom Age Shark is a Sci-Fi themed alternate history game set during the cold war where the Russians are using a great white shark as part of the war effort.

It is up to you, the player, to track down the shark and kill it. This will be no easy task as this superpowered shark can rip a sub to shreds if given the chance.

Get it for FREE or a small donation now DriveThru or Wargame Vault.

Well, friends. That is all for the next week or so. I look forward to reporting back to you in the coming couple of months with some spooky fun and horrific games of the season. Some possible products include a gothic fantasy campaign book, a new sourcebook for Hammer+Cross, new print and play and PHYSICAL board games, and a WHOLE NEW core rule book in a new frightening theme for Micro Chapbook RPG. I guess we will see what I have time to get done and into your hands before the pumpkin drops.

Stay safe and healthy!

To The Stars . . . and Beyond

Hello, Friends,

It is time for the weekly update from Micro RPG! This week I'm sending the update a few days early as I will be taking an extended weekend to "recharge the batteries" so to say. Also, I couldn't wait to let all of you know about the new Deluxe Core Rulebook that just dropped on DriveThru!

To The Stars and Beyond

So many of you have asked for it. In my recent survey, the #1 genre people wanted to see more of (after fantasy, of course) was science fiction. So, I am happy to announce that the Micro Chapbook SciFi RPG now has its own official deluxe core rulebook! You can download it now for only $1.99! The book includes all the rules and then some. Most exciting of all, it has a "Mission Generator" which allows for mixed up scenarios whenever you play.

WEEKLY FREEBIE!

If you are a bit strapped for cash at the moment, no worries. You can get the new stand alone Scifi scenario chapbook for FREE (or a small donation). A crew of Space Pirates have abducted a peaceful convoy ship transporting politicians. Can you board the ship and kill the Pirate King before it is too late?

The stats for the Space Pirates is also in the core rulebook!

COMING SOON

Also coming down the project line are two more deluxe books. The first is a Campaign book for the Micro Chapbook RPG core fantasy system. The other is another deluxe core rulebook in a new genre! Keep your ear to the rail for these books in the coming month or two. Also look for new freebies each week!

Have a happy rest of your week

BLAST BUGS IN SPACE!

Hello Gamers,

Its Noah here again sending you out the weekly update for Micro RPG! We have a lot to show you this week! Things are really hard for so many people right now, financially, emotionally, physically, socially, so I've made sure to include LOTS of freebies this time around! Enjoy!

Blast Bugs in Space!

I've been tons of requests to do more in the SciFi Micro Chapbook RPG series. Up to this point, there has only been the singular chapbook--System Breach. Well, I am happy to announce the release of the second chapbook in the series: BUG SHIP.

A derelict ship left floating in space. You fear it may be infested with a race of bug aliens who attach to a host ship and feed off the crew. Can you exterminate these bugs before they eat you?

Bug Ship is an ultra-simple science fiction roleplaying game where you explore a derelict ship.  It can be played solo or with a traditional GM if you so wish. This game is based on the extremely popular grimdark fantasy Micro Chapbook RPG system.

These rules are specially designed for solo play on a grid map or graph paper but may also be used as quick and simple rules for a traditional GM run RPG game. Combine with other Micro Chapbook RPGs for extra options!

This file includes both the full-color and printer-friendly versions.

As always, pick it up for FREE right now (or by making a small donation if you wish to support continued free games!)

In addition to the new free Scifi book, I also have a number of other free products out this week for you! This includes a new Monster Roster to make keeping track of bad guy HP easier. There is also a new stand-alone fantasy chapbook and the first book of abilities for your player characters.

Mistress of Shadow

A strange woman haunts the local cave in the woods. Some believe she is a ghost, others a witch, and others something far worse. Can you investigate and rid the town of fear?

Mistress of Shadow is a Micro Chapbook RPG--an ultra-light roleplaying game that fits in a single folded chapbook. Simply print off the two rules pages back-to-back, fold in half, and you have a completely playable Micro Chapbook RPG.

These rules are specially designed for solo play on a grid map or graph paper but may also be used as quick and simple rules for a traditional GM run RPG game. Combine with other Micro Chapbook RPGs for extra options!

This file includes both the full-color and printer-friendly versions.

This chapbook contains the basic rules. For the full rules check out the Micro Chapbook RPG Deluxe Core Rulebook.

TAKE THE GAME WITH YOU!

At the request of a few gamers, I've gone ahead and made the pocket edition of Micro Chapbook RPG Core Rulebook available in a PDF format in addition to the print format. It contains most of the same content as the Deluxe rulebook, minus a few elements. You can print out the pages 4 to a sheet and then cut them out and bind them to create your own miniaturized version of the book. It only costs 99 cents. You can also get a printed copy on Amazon for $4.99.

A Last Thought

Finally, I wanted to take a quick moment to respond to many of you who filled out my survey this past week. First and foremost, thank you for your time and opinions. It was awesome to see such a large response from the community. Second, many of you had many good ideas. I wanted to let you know that many of these games were/are already in the works. One person asked about being able to play a vampire or werewolf in some of the games. Rest assured, that idea is being played with. Another player liked the idea of a paleolithic setting. That is also being worked on! In fact, I have an old board game titled Neanderthal: Danger of the Wilds I made a couple of years back but never published that should be coming to print and play format in the next month or so. Another person wondered about an RPG that didn't rely on violence. Yes, in fact, I even have a Micro RPG gamebook that is about a different concept or topic than fighting enemies that I think many will enjoy. The vast majority of people said they loved the fantasy and sword and sorcery stuff the most, so that will get the main focus of my attention--but that doesn't mean other genres will go untouched. This is a one-man show. I work full time at this, but even then I can only put out new books so quickly. Thank you all for the support and you expect new gamebooks every week! I'll be announcing the winner of the free upcoming deluxe gamebook soon as well!

Thanks,

Noah

NEW GAME: One Page Apocalypse: Christmas Fallout

Hello again, gamers, and Happy Holidays. Nothing quite says winter solstice like a nuclear winter. At least, that is the case in the newest game in the One Page series!

One Page Apocalypse is a game I started working on around the same time as One Page Dungeon. However, I knew I wanted it to have a little bit more depth and complexity than One Page Dungeon, due to the fact that zombies, vampires, urban settings, and apocalypse fiction are all in my top favorite genres. I love fantasy, but it doesn't hold a candle to how much I adore urban/modern horror. (I blame books, tv, and movies from the late 90s and early 2000s).

In any case, I am thrilled to finally bring you the first of hopefully many entries in the Apocalypse version of this system. And hopefully the beginnings of a lot more in-depth games like I've never done before.

Some of the new things in this book include:

  • Rules for creating your own "home base" as either part of a survivor's compound or as a lone wolf.
  • Rules for infection and cold. Try to stave off illness and death as long as possible.
  • Rules for Mutations! How will the radiation of nuclear winter change you?
  • And FINALLY a short list of rules for converting the system to multiplayer.

Welcome to One Page Apocalypse, a simple and easy role-playing-game for the solo player. You only need some printer paper, dice, and a pencil to play, making it perfect for a plane ride, hotel room, or anywhere else. The game works with a procedurally generated game map, adding some randomness to the game.

This first volume marks the opening to Season 1 of the game--set in chilling nuclear winter where radiation turns any dead bodies into zombies. This season builds on the absolute basics of the One Page System (used in One Page Dungeon and One Page Cthulhu) and updates it for a modern horror setting.

Each volume will build upon the last, offering new snowy and frozen buildings and locations to explore in each entry--along with new horrors, mutations, and class options as well. Each entry stands alone, so no need to worry about playing them in order!
So, get ready to survive the apocalypse!

You can buy the first entry NOW for only 50 cents on DriveThru RPG. OR you can wait for the paperback copy coming soon!

NEW GAME: Charge Stations!

Hello, gamers. I recently asked what some of you would like to see coming out from MicroRPG. A few asked for a sci-fi roll+write. So, here it is! Charge Stations!

"Commander’s Log - Solardate 11.12.30
Due to an unforeseen systems malfunction, while passing through an anomaly, our warp drive has lost all power. Additionally, it has managed to power down all of our weapons systems onboard the U.S.S. Frontiersman. Usually, such a malfunction would be little more than a minor setback. It may even prove a useful piece of scientific and engineering research as the crew works on solving the problem and figuring out why the anomaly effects out ship in the first place.

However, things seem a bit more dire for us at the moment. The anomaly was right on the outer reaches of Kornathian space and we’ve been set adrift near one of their war parties. They have no desire to stop and discuss the situation or work out terms of peaceful negotiation. Instead, they have opened fire upon us.

I, as the commanding officer of this ship, can not simply let this be. I have men and women aboard I need to protect. As such, we will continue to work on fixing the warp drive and powering up our weapons, all the while we will fight off these unwanted attacks. It seems our choices are either to get the warp drive back up and running, so we can light jump out of here, or defeat the capital ship that is leading the war party against us."

Charge Stations! is a science fiction roll+write game where a single player takes command of the U.S.S. Frontiersman. It is up to the player to repair the ship all while fighting off incoming attacks. This is done by rolling handfuls of six-sided dice (D6s) which represent the ship’s crew members and assigning them to various tasks around the ship. All you need to play is a pencil, some dice, and this book.
