This Unthankful Land: Thanksgiving Special 2019

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow gamers in the United States! Today I'm happy to announce this year's Thanksgiving special. It is called This Unthankful Land and it is the latest entry in the Point Chills system fo board games (a follow up to Sleepy Hollow, Hunt for the Headless Horseman).

You are a western settler in the mid to late 1800s. You moved yourself and your family out to this unknown place with the promise of a free parcel of land from the government. You had high dreams of working the dirt with your own two hands, planting seed, and watching as the crops shot up like giants toward the sky. You envisioned a landscape of cattle, animals well fed and fat for the market. You relished the thought of taking your animals, your crops, and selling them for a pretty penny at the end of the season. You imagined sitting around the table with your family, your wife and six children, and celebrating the bounties of your harvest over a large Thanksgiving feast!

Unfortunately, none of that has happened. A vicious late summer storm destroyed your crops with hail. A plague of bugs swooped in afterward to eat what little might have been salvageable. The cattle all contracted some sort of illness, withering their bodies away to nothingness before your very eyes. Worst of all is the Turkey, the huge bird you’d been fattening up for the Thanksgiving holiday. That turkey went berserk, overcome with some sort of illness of the mind. It attacked the weakened cattle, eating the flesh off their bodies. It even attacked your youngest son before rushing off into the wild.

Now with winter coming, you not only face complete isolation and starvation, but you also fear what lurks in the woods and mountains surrounding your farm. Could it be that the turkey is still waiting out there? Watching you at every turn? Perhaps he wants to feast on you this Thanksgiving.

In any case, there seems to be a curse over this unthankful land.

This Unthankful Land is a solo print and play RPG board game of Horror Survival in the American West. You can pick it up now on DriveThru RPG. OR keep an eye out for the print paperback version of the game coming soon.

One Page Dungeon: Frostmire

Happy Friday, Gamers! Today, I am excited to finally announce the release of the latest One Page Dungeon. This marks the opening of the second "season" of the game, set in the chilly world of Frostmire!

Additionally, it marks the first time the game will ever be in a print format! That's right, for those of you who enjoy physical media, you can pick up a full-color edition of the game in a paperback format through Amazon TODAY!

Read on for more info:

Welcome to Frostmire, a frozen and harsh fantasy world where only the bravest (or perhaps foolhardy) heroes dare to venture. This chilling and somewhat dark realm is the setting for Season 2 of One Page Dungeon. Each volume will build upon the last, offering new snowy and frost-covered caverns and dungeons in each entry--along with new monsters, spells, and class options as well. Each entry stands alone, so no need to worry!

One Page Dungeon: Frostmire is a simple and easy role-playing-game for the solo player. You only need some printer paper, dice, and a pencil to play, making it perfect for a plane ride, hotel room, or anywhere else. The game works with a procedurally generated dungeon, adding some randomness to the game.

This newest volume marks the opening to Season 2 of the game--set in the chilly and dark world of Frostmire. This season takes all of the absolute basics introduced in Season 1 and builds upon them. Additionally, for those who played season 1, season 2 goes into greater detail on rules--helping to clarify gameplay even further. Enjoy!

Friday Freebie! DINO SPOTTERS!

Happy Friday, everyone! Usually, I don't release games back to back (Instead I try to focus on one new game release every week or so) but this morning I was browsing through old game files and found this one I'd finished making and never uploaded! So, here it is! A Friday Freebie!

In Dino Spotters, players act as guest photographers at a brand new dinosaur park. You are the first people on earth to have a chance to photograph these exotic animals. You are trying to catch the best glimpse of these new attractions.

The player with the best pictures of the most dinosaurs at the end of the game wins. But watch out, nighttime shooting can be a challenge, incoming tropical storms can wreak havoc on camera equipment, and getting too close to the dinos--specifically the t-rex--can result is trouble along the way.

Northern Voyage: Strategic Warfare During the Viking Age

Hello again, gamers! My apologies for how quiet things have been lately, but I ended up in the hospital over the weekend and didn't get a whole lot of work done. Thankfully, I'm on the mend and have had energy to work on an older game design I had filed away for a rainy day.

It's been a while since I released a Wargame, so what better time than now?

You are a Jarl in charge of a Viking Voyage into the Northern Territories. Your goal? To seek fame and fortune in the eyes of your people and your Gods. To do this? Conquer all of the northern towns and fortresses.

Northern Voyage is the 2nd game in the “Point Ops” Wargame series. The first game in the series was Blood & Gold, a pirate-themed wargame. Northern Voyage takes the war to the ancient world of the Vikings.

Additionally, this game streamlines many of the rules, the flow of gameplay, and the components. This is to make it so the game can easily fit onto a single printed page while also making it friendly to newer solo wargamers. You also only need 1 six-sided die for these newer rules (rather than the previous 6+ dice), thus making the game easier to travel with.
